National Lockdown (January 2021)

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on 4 January 2021, only children of critical workers and vulnerable children and young people should attend school or college. All other pupils and students will receive remote education. The DFE information, as it currently stands is as follows:-

Children of critical workers and vulnerable children who can access schools or educational settings

Please note that from Thursday 15th October all staff and students from Year 7 upwards will be expected to wear a face covering when moving around the premises (in corridors and outside of classrooms); but they will not be required in classrooms or in the canteen at this stage, unless of course staff and children wish to wear them.

Please note that if a child or member of staff has a medical condition that makes wearing a face covering difficult, they will be exempt from wearing a face covering

Exemptions

Some individuals are exempt from wearing face coverings

This applies to those who:

  • cannot put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment or disability
  • speak to or provide assistance to someone who relies on lip reading, clear sound or facial expression to communicate

The same exemptions will apply in education settings, and we would expect teachers and other staff to be sensitive to those needs.

Of course, if the guidance is updated, we will notify you of any next steps.
